2 x 14 Stair Stringers
The 2 x 14 will give you a little more support after the stringer is cut
you will have between 7 and 8 inches of wood left for the main support
of the staircase. If you are going to have a longer stringer span with
no support like a wall underneath a 2 x 14 will give additional strength
to the stairs. Engineers are using 2 x 14 stringers more often now in
residential home construction slowly replacing the
2 x 12 stair stringers .
