Modular Stairs - Stairway Construction

Modular stairs would include any movable stairway. A good example of this would be any stairway that could be used for a construction trailer, mobile home or raised storage shed. It doesn't matter how big the stairway is, as long as it can be moved.

Build Your Own Modular Stairs

They're not difficult to build and especially if you have our book, "Simplified Stair Building," you should be able to build your own modular stairway. I don't know how many times I've went into a mobile home that had any movable stairway.

Not only was it modular, but it moved when you used it.

You wouldn't believe it, but one time I was visiting a friend of mine who lived in a mobile home park. As I was walking up to the side door of the home, I noticed that the stairway was only 24 inches wide and only had two steps.

That wasn't the biggest problem though, this particular "movable stairway" could have easily been moved by one of my children. It couldn't have weighed more than 30 pounds and was definitely a safety hazard.

If you could manage to safely climb up this wobbly set of stairs, you still needed to make the last sleep which was over 18 inches high into the mobile home. If you can imagine, walking up to wobbly stair steps with 6 inch risers and then making the last leap, into the mobile home, you got a pretty good idea, what I'm talking about.

Even though this individual didn't take my advice and build his own stairs, I hope that you will. If you have the time and a few tools, you can build your own stairs.
