Non Slip Treads - Stair Safety

Non slip treads would include any stair treads that had a slip resistant material on the surface of the step. The picture below provides you with an excellent example of a non-slip material that was added to a wood stairway.

Stairway Safety Tips

If you have a stairway that is slippery, then you have a stairway that's unsafe. Have no fear though, you can usually purchase aftermarket non slip tape or other materials to create a slip resistant stairway.

Let me try and put this in perspective for you, one person walks down your stairway, in your home, business or other properties that you own. The stairway never seemed slippery, but you remember it being slippery, sometimes after it rained.

What if this person slipped, while walking down your stairway? There's a chance that they won't seek financial rewards, but what about their insurance company.

To make a long story short, if you own any property that has a set of stairs, you could be held liable, for any injuries that occurred on your property, while another person was using your stairway. Even if we forget about the liability issues, we still need to focus on safety.

If you could use $40 worth of non-slip resistant stair tread materials to prevent anyone from injuring themselves, you probably would and so would I. Stairs are dangerous and they are even more dangerous when they're wet and slippery.
