Stairs Next To Stucco Problem

The stairs next to the stucco create a sponge like effect. The wood stair stringer is not painted on the side you can't therefore it touch's the cement stucco. When the stucco gets moist from rain or high humidity the wood will actually suck the moisture into the wood. This will attract termites and start rotting the wood.
