Attic Stairs
Attic stairs consist of any stairway that will take
you up to the attic. They can be a permanent stairway that was built as
part of the home or a base set of stairs that you pull down from your
ceiling.
If you need to access your attic regularly, more than five or six times
per year, it wouldn't be a bad idea to install a pulldown stairway or
ladder.
Before you do, make sure that you have enough room to install one of the
stairways. I can't tell you how many times I've went to someone's house
to give them an estimate, after they purchased their new attic stairs.
In other words, it wouldn't be a bad idea to contact a local contractor
who has experience, installing these stairway systems.
Whatever you do, don't start removing ceiling joist or structural
framing parts or remove something that could be holding up the rest of
your home.
