Carpeting - Stairway Flooring

Carpeting, hopefully I don't need to tell anyone what a piece of carpeting is, but in case you don't know, it's usually a soft material used to cover the interior flooring of a home or building. Carpeting also comes in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.

Now here's something that you might not know. It's just my opinion, but I truly believe that a carpeted stairway is safer to walk up and down then one with wood stair steps.

I'm not about to put my hand on the Bible and swear to it, because I have personally witnessed four of my family members, including myself slip and fall down a stairway that I personally built for the home, we lived in.

The biggest problem with wood is wet feet. If your feet are wet, there's a good chance that they're also going to be slippery. If you're planning on walking up and down a set of stairs with smooth wood stair treads, beware, because it could be slippery.

You can always have carpet running down the center of the stairway, with wood tread ends. This usually creates a rich looking set of stairs, but plan on spending a few more dollars.

If you're planning on building an exterior stairway, don't forget that you can use outdoor carpeting.
