Freestanding Stairs
Freestanding stairs represent a stairway that isn't supported by anything underneath of it. The picture below provide you with an excellent example of a set of stairs that's freestanding.
Architects, engineers, stair builders and even home
designers can also refer to a freestanding stairway as a set of stairs
without any structural supports. In other words a stringerless set of
stairs could also be referred to as a freestanding stairway.
Throughout this stair glossary, I have referred to construction terms
that are used by construction workers in different parts of the country.
Make sure that you check out the rest of the interesting words or terms
used throughout the glossary.
Every once in a while, you'll run into a few words that you never even
heard before.
