French Curve - Stair Tread Design And Construction
A French curve is an elliptical shaped design that could relate to a variety of different curves or circular forms. In other words, it's like a wacky circle that's been twisted and manipulated into a variety of curved shapes.
You can also purchase a French curve architectural
design template. These come in different shapes and sizes and are used
by architects and designers to draw a variety of different curves and
circular shapes.
Every once in a while, you're going to run across a few stair treads
that weren't created by an ellipse, oval or circle. It's going to be a
shape that you can't relate to, but it's curved.
Whenever you run across something that looks like it's circular, but you
can't make it out, just plan on calling it a French curve.
Most architects, stair builders and designers work with a recognizable
geometric patterns, in order to make the construction of the stairway as
easy as possible.
As long as I've been building stairs, I've never used a French curve.
