Gauges - Framing Square Tools
These two little objects that attach to your framing square, otherwise known as stair gauges can help any stair builder, layout their stair stringers. All you need to do is place your framing square in the correct position for laying out each stair step and then attach the stair gauges to the framing square.
After you have strategically placed your stair gauges
on your framing square, you can now go to the next step. Simply slide
the framing square down the edge of the lumber you're going to use, to
build your stairs, while marking each individual stair step.
Stair Gauge Tip: I've probably bought about 20 of these gauges, during
my entire career. They're small and they're definitely not hard to lose.
Make sure that you find a safe place to store these little rascals, to
avoid making additional purchases in the future.
How did I solve this problem? I purchased a few small plastic storage
containers to protect some of my smaller tools. Who was I protecting
these tools from? Myself, of course, because I was tired of spending
money on tools that I already owned, but could no longer find.
There's plenty of useful home tips about stair building, remodeling and
construction throughout the entire website, make sure that you read
every one of them.
