Half Round Risers - Design And Stair Construction
A half round riser is a riser that forms half of a circle. The picture below provides you with an excellent example of what a half round riser actually looks like. They can be made out of wood and then finished with a hard or soft wood veneer, tiled or even carpeted.
To be honest with you, this is probably one of the
most effective ways to create an inexpensive architectural detail. The
newel posts can sit in front of the half rounded riser and tread, sit on
the top edge or on top, in the middle. There are a variety of
combinations that work great for this particular design.
Stair Handrail Construction Advice: Make sure that you plan out every
detail for your handrail and stairway construction, before you get
started. I can't tell you how many times someone told me not to worry
about something, only later on to find out that we really should have
worried about it sooner.
Mistakes like these cost builders and contractors lots of money. If
you're working on a staircase for your own home, you should make sure
that you have double checked all of your measurements and that your
stairway won't have any problems during construction.
Remember, if you're going to have a finish carpenter and a
framing
carpenter work on the same stairway, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have
the two of them get together. Remember the old saying, two heads are
better than one, that applies to stair building, also.
