Handrail Jacks - Stair Handrail Construction
Handrail jacks are boards used in the construction or framing of a stair handrail, that's going to be covered by another building material, like drywall, stucco or siding. The picture below provides you with an excellent example of a handrail jack stud.
Carpenters from all over the United States use
different names to describe different parts of the stairway. Handrail
jacks can also be referred to as studs, cripples, handrail studs, gable
studs or rake wall studs.
