Scrolling - Wood Design

Scrolling usually represents a shaped wood design in a piece of wood trim or other building materials. The picture below provides you with an excellent example of shaped pieces of wood at the end of an open stairway.

Inexpensive Scrolling Creates Attention To Detail

My grandfather made flat cabinet doors, out of variety of different hardwoods. When I was about 12 years old I went over to visit my grandmother and grandfather and I noticed that their cabinets had been replaced.

I started to complement him on the great job he did, when my grandmother said," Those are the same cabinets, he just added some wood scrolling to them." Before I started to argue with the wisdom of my grandparents, I thought for a second, before realizing that she was right.

I never forgot and never will, the impact that $75 worth of wood trim, made on me that day. If you're willing to open your creative minds to the ideas of wood scrolling, you could improve almost anything, made out of wood.

Each one of the pieces of scrolling in the picture above could have been made out of scrap materials and made with a handful of tools.
