Stair Rods - Flooring And Step Covering

Stair rods are used to keep stair runners positioned, when used on stairways. These rods are usually decorative and run across the base of each individual stair riser. Stair rods can be purchased in a variety of different colors, sizes and building materials.

Do I Really Need Stair Rods?

No, you only need stair rods if you're going to use a stair runner. It would be difficult to install a stair runner, without something holding them in place. In other words, if you're planning on installing a stair runner on your stairway, make sure that you order a few stair rods to hold the stair runner in place.

My Stair Rods Are Starting To Rust

If you're stair rods are starting to rust, you can always purchase new ones or refinished the old ones, if it isn't too late. Stair rods are relatively inexpensive and can even be purchased over the Internet.

Before you even think about refinishing your old stair rods, make sure that you find out, what a set of new ones is going to cost. This might seem hard to imagine, but I've known a few people, including myself who have re-finished a few projects, only to find out later, that they could have purchased new ones.

Try to make an estimated list of how much time you think it's going to take and how much money you're going to spend on chemicals and sandpaper. Sometimes it's better to buy new stair rods than refinish your old ones.
