Stair Runners - Flooring For Stairway Treads
Stair runners are individual pieces of carpeting that can be laid over the stair treads and risers. Most of the time stair runners are used to decorate a stairway, but they can be used for safety, also.
Stair Runners For Safety
If you have wood stair treads that are smooth and you're having problems
walking up and down them, you could always install a stair runner. One
of the biggest problems I've noticed with smooth stairs, including wood
stair treads are the fact that there are slippery.
One of the ways to improve stair step traction would be to install a
stair runner. I'm not about to suggest that you would eliminate the
possibility of falling or slipping, but if the right stair runner was
selected, you could at least reduce the risk significantly.
Stair Runners For Decoration
If you have a worn set of stairs and you're looking to add some new life
to them, a new stair runner could do the trick. There are hundreds of
different designs and colors that you can choose from and there's a good
chance that you will find something that matches the interior of your
house.
Before you get out your checkbook and order any stair runners, make sure
that you understand how they work and whether or not there are
additional parts that will be required for the installation.
Most of the time you can't install the stair runner down the middle of
the stairway, without using any stair rods. You should also make sure
that you measure your stairway and order the correct width and length.
Sometimes it's better to order something a little longer, than it is to
order something a little smaller, just to save a few dollars.
