Tread Brackets - Construction And Building Stair Parts

Stair tread brackets are used on a certain type of stairway to connect the stair treads, to the stringers. The picture below provides you with an excellent example of what two stair treads look like that have been securely fastened to the stair stringer.

Before you build a stairway using tread brackets, you need to check out one of our best-selling books on stair building. This book can make all the difference in the world, if you don't know how to use tread brackets or if you don't know the first thing about stairway construction.

This book was written to provide everyone, including beginner, do-it-yourselfers with a simple step-by-step set of instructions. There are also plenty of pictures and easy to follow directions.

Problems With Tread Brackets And Stairs

The biggest problem I could think of is that some of stair treads actually loosen up over time. It all depends upon how well the stairway was originally built, what type of lumber was used for your stair treads and how well the stairway has been maintained.

I've seen stairways that I wouldn't even walk up and down, because they were in such bad shape. Once these stair treads loosen from the tread brackets or from the stair stringer, they need to be tightened, replaced or repaired.

Maintenance seems to be the biggest problem with most stairways. If they're not maintained properly, eventually they could become a safety hazard. To prevent anyone from getting injured, make sure that you inspect these stair cases regularly and make the necessary repairs.
