Unsafe Stairs - Remodeling And Repair

Unsafe stairs would be any stairway that isn't safe to walk up or down. If you live in a home or work in a building that has a stairway with loose, wobbly or damaged parts, you're probably taking your life, into your own hands, every time you use them. Damaged stairways should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible, to prevent people from falling and possibly injuring themselves.

Unsafe Stairs Can Lead To Lawsuits

One of the biggest problems property owners face today are lawsuits. If you own a large apartment complex and you have loose stair treads and wobbly handrails, you could end up filing bankruptcy, if the right attorney, received the perfect case, especially if you were aware of the problems.

It's hard to imagine, but I was replacing all of the stairways on a large apartment complex, when a woman approached me and asked me, to fix her stairway next. I told her that we were going in a specific order and her stairway wasn't scheduled to be replaced, for another three weeks.

Then she asked me if I could take a look at her stairway, because she was going to be moving, in a week and didn't want to move her large refrigerator down the stairway, because she was afraid that it was going to break the staircase.

When I looked at her stairs, I couldn't believe that anyone was actually using them and asked her," Have you contacted the apartment manager, to let her know about your problem?" She told me that she had, but nothing had been done about it.

I told her that I would talk to the manager and try to replace her stairway, the next day. The manager didn't hesitate and I was able to repair her stairs, before she moved out.

I couldn't imagine anyone leaving an unsafe stairway, for someone to walk down, that was in such bad shape. However, if you don't know how to fix the damage, I understand why it isn't going to get repaired. However, this isn't an excuse.

If you are a property owner and you have unsafe stairs on your property and aren't interested in paying out exorbitant sums of money, because someone got injured, you'd better take my advice and fix or replace, all of your damaged stairways.
