Utility Stairs - Commercial Construction
Utility stairs can be referred to in a couple of different ways. Some of the stairs are portable and can be used for storing or removing items from tall shelves, however they're also used to access utility and storage areas.
Utility stairs come in a wide variety of sizes and can
be built out of different materials. The most common utility stairways
designed today are made out of metal. Some of them have wheels on the
bottom and can be moved easily, while others aren't going anywhere and
are bolted to the ground.
To sum a set of utility stairs up in a nutshell, they're usually used
for some type of storage or utility access. It's not uncommon to find
one of these staircases at a large warehouse, lumberyard or home
improvement center.
If you are planning on building a utility stairway, it wouldn't be a bad
idea to learn a little more about them. One of the biggest problems with
building stairs that are specifically going to be used to access storage
areas is weight.
Could you imagine a couple of people carrying large objects up and down
these stairways, all day long? If this is going to be the purpose for
your utility staircase, you'd better make sure that it's strong and
sturdy.
