Victorian - Stairs And Home Design

The Victorian era was a period of time when Queen Victoria ruled England, between 1840 and 1900. It's a particular style used for designing and building homes. The staircase in the picture below, represents a simple Victorian stair design that could be found, in Victorian style homes.

It's considered to be a Medieval Gothic style, but I like to refer to them as the older homes, in my community. Every once in awhile I run across a home that's tucked away, off of a busy street. With a closer look, it doesn't take long to realize that this particular home was built along time ago, by someone with a lot of money.

If you were a farmer in the United States, in the early 1900s and you wanted to impress your friends, you wouldn't even think about building any thing else. Victorian homes are scattered throughout California and some of the nicest ones I've ever seen were located in San Francisco.

You can't just focus on the exterior of these buildings, even though some of them simply take your breath away. The moment you get inside of one that was well maintained or completely restored, you can easily become lost, back in time.

I really can't provide you with an exact description of a Victorian stairway, building or homes, because the word Victorian often refers to everything built within that time period. Even the buildings that don't seem as spectacular.
