Building guard railing
The stair guard railing
will need to be built to meet local building code requirements. This is
a must and you must understand how to apply these
building codes, to your guard
rail construction.
Most stairway guard rail
s need to be a minimum of 42 inches high,
measuring a vertical distance, from the tip of the stair tread nosing,
to the top of the handrail. However, your community might use different
measurements and these measurements should always be verified, before
building the stairs.
The guard rail
should be constructed to prevent someone from falling over
the side of the stairs or through it. Realistically, this is what I
would refer to as common sense construction.
The guard railing should
be planned out and built to maximize its strength.
Both sides of the stairway should be protected at all times, by a guard
rail or wall.
