How Do I Fasten The Upper Section of A Stairway To Wood Framing?

There are few ways you can attach the upper section of the stair stringer to the framing, yet almost all of them will use the methods described below.

The picture above provides you with a stair stringer that has been positioned properly and is currently being held by one toenail that was driven at an angle through the top of the stair stringer, into the ledger.

The picture above provides you with a stair stringer, with five toe nails driven into the ledger, by a pneumatic nail gun.

You can always nail from the back side of the ledger, directly into the stair stringer, instead of toe nailing the stringer into the ledger.
