Missing Gripable Handrail - Safety Problems
It isn't uncommon to find a building without a gripable handrail on
any stairway, in an older building. The key here is the older building
and the fact that they weren't required years ago.
However, it
wouldn't be a bad idea to install a gripable handrail as soon as
possible, to give people using the stairway something to hold onto. One
of the biggest problems with an accident waiting to happen will be when
the accident actually happens.
Obviously to most it won't be a
problem, if nothing ever happens, but the moment it does and you're in
the middle of a lawsuit that's threatening to take away all of your
possessions, you'll think back and wonder why you didn't fix something
like this before it became a problem.
