Carpet Dealers

If you're planning on carpeting your stairway and the rest of your home, it wouldn't be a bad idea to contact a local carpet dealer. Usually these carpeting experts can provide you with low prices and excellent service, but knowing which ones to use and which ones to avoid, could be a problem.

Staircase And Home Carpet Dealer Tips

1. You usually get what you pay for. If you're going to purchase cheap carpeting, plan on getting a lower quality carpet. There is just no way around it, most of the time.

2. Beware of 50% off sales, because the carpet dealer might not be telling you the complete truth. One time I purchased some carpeting for $11 a square yard. The carpet dealer was having a sale at that time and the original price was $26 a square yard.

When I told the carpet dealer associate that I was getting $11 a square yard carpeting, he got upset and told me that he was giving me $26 a square yard carpeting, for $11 a yard. I knew what I was really getting, but wasn't going to argue with him. I actually got what I paid for and the carpeting lasted about five years, before it started to fade.

3. Make sure that you get a total price, for the complete installation and carpeting. Sometimes carpet dealers will sell you carpeting for $12 a yard, but increase the labor installation price, to make up the difference, for giving you such a low price, on the carpeting.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to grab a sample from one of the carpet dealers and go around town, comparison shopping. You should go to at least three places, before making a final decision.

4. Home improvement centers aren't going to provide you with the best carpeting deals either. A few years ago we purchased some carpeting from one of the largest home improvement centers, in the United States, only to find out that they weren't going to provide us with the warranty that they sold us.

They instructed us to contact another company and informed us that they weren't responsible for the carpet cleaning contract, they sold us, when we purchased the carpeting.

This could have been a misunderstanding, but I don't think that we would have purchased a carpet maintenance guarantee, if we knew, it was going to be a big hassle.

Get as much information as you possibly can, about your carpeting, carpeting installers and guarantees, before ever giving the carpet dealer one single penny.
