Non Slip Stair Mats
Non slip stair mats can be life savers, especially if you have smooth stair steps. If you do have smooth stair steps or you've slipped, lost your balance or actually fell down a set of stairs, because they were slippery, non-slip stair mat's could provide you with a solution, to your problem. At the least, they could prevent someone from becoming seriously injured. Smooth stairs are dangerous, especially when they're wet.

Nonskid Staircase Ideas
1. Install a non-slip surface that will provide stairway users with
plenty of traction for their feet. However, there are some products that
make promises they can't keep. Some of them can even increase the odds
of injury, if they're not maintained or installed properly.
2. Install stair mats, rubber stair treads and even carpeting over your
smooth stairway steps. There are plenty of products available today that
you can add to your smooth stairway, to reduce the amount of slippage
and possible injury.
3. If you have a wood stairway with smooth, dangerous stair treads, you
could always carpet the entire stairway or run a roll of carpeting down
the center.
4. Exterior stairways can be coated with epoxy paints that have
traction-based materials like sand in them, to provide you with a better
grip, while using the stairway. However, if this paint ever gets worn,
you will need to repaint the steps. Try to avoid using glossy stair step
covering materials, like the ones used on garage floors, because they
can be slippery when wet.
Don't confuse additional traction with accident prevention. You can
install any anti-slip products over your stair steps and still slip or
lose your balance. Whenever you add a nonskid stair treads to your
stairway, you're only going to be reducing the possibility of an
accident, not preventing them from ever happening.
If you're interested in preventing stairway accidents, you should always
focus on every step that you take, while walking up and down any
staircases. Hold on to the handrailing at all times and make sure that
the bottom of your feet aren't covered with smooth shoes or socks.
