Retro Treads

Retro treads is just another word used by cool construction professionals, instead of saying something hum drum, like replacement treads. I guess the term just sounds cooler to use. Instead of telling your friends and family that you had your staircase remodeled or refinished, it sounds better to tell them that you just had some retro treads installed.

Cool Retro Tread Purchasing Story

A few years ago I was talking to someone who kept referring to retro treads. He was a young contractor who drove a large four-wheel drive pickup truck. He reminded me of a punk kid, with his wild hairdo, sunglasses and fascinating assortment of clothing.

Finally, I had to ask him," What the heck is a retro tread?" He looked at me like I had just asked him, if he knew anything about Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster. I said, "Well, are you going to answer me or not?" He told me that a retro tread is used to replace old worn out or damaged stair steps.

That was when I realized that I had just added another word to my construction vocabulary. This young man wasn't ever going to use the word," replacement treads" ever again. In order for me to communicate with him effectively, I needed to replace some of my outdated words, with the new hip ones.

To make a long story short, if you don't want to be a nerd, you better learn the lingo. To find out more information about retro treads, click on this old outdated term, replacement stair treads.
