Anchor Bolts
Bolts that are in the building foundation used to attach building materials, like lumber to the foundation. Most anchor bolts are L-shaped and between 1/2 and 3/4" in diameter
Anchor bolts can be used in a variety of ways when
building a set of stairs. In buildings with concrete walls, anchor bolts
would be needed to fasten landings and floors, to the walls.
Anchor bolts are regularly used at the base of the stairway, to attach
the bottom of the stairs stringers to the concrete foundation. However,
they need to be strategically located, when pouring the building
foundation.
I don't know how many times I ran into a situation where the anchor bolts
are off a few inches, creating big problems for the stair builder.
If you notice the red arrow is pointing to an anchor bolt
that will need to be cut off. If there's one thing I know about building
stairs, you're going to run into problems like these, every once in a
while.
The carpenters and construction workers who know how to fix them, seem
to be the masters. Like I said, take your time and make sure that the
anchor bolts are located in their proper positions, to eliminate home
building problems like these.
