Right Hand - Handrailing And Stairway Parts

The right hand generally refers to the right side of something in the construction industry. A right-hand bathtub has a drain on the right-hand side and a right-hand door usually opens to the right. When you're building a stairway hand rail system, most of the parts you order will curving to the right or left direction and will be called out accordingly.

Before you order anything right handed, make sure that your positive that you're getting the right product. I can't tell you how many times I've received a bathtub, door, window or even a sliding glass door that was right, but it was wrong. Sorry, I couldn't help myself with that one.

Most lumber yards, construction material warehouses and home improvement centers have pictures or drawings of the parts you're going to receive. It's not a bad idea to take a second look at the drawings or review them later at your home, just to make sure that you're on the same page as the person who's ordering them for you.

Most windows suppliers won't even order your windows until you have signed a confirmation letter, stating that you understand everything about the product you're ordering. Believe it or not, this piece of paper protects you and them, just in case there is a problem.

Whenever you're ordering right or left handed products, just remember that your interpretation could be different than someone else's and that's where the problems usually start.
