Vinyl Handrails - Stair Building And Remodeling

Vinyl handrails are used to protect balconies, decks, porches, patios and stairways. A vinyl handrail is made out of a plastic material, that most builders refer to as vinyl, even though it looks like plastic. Vinyl is also used to make other building products like windows.

Do Vinyl Handrails Last Forever?

They do last a long time, but I don't think that they will last forever. Now what would I consider a long time, this could make the difference between someone purchasing them or purchasing something else, to build their handrails out of.

I can't honestly answer that question, because it would all depend upon the construction, of the handrail and use. If the vinyl handrailing was constructed poorly, but no one ever used the stairway, it could last a long time.

If the vinyl handrailing was constructed according to the manufacturer's installation instructions, but was located in a high-traffic area, it's probably not going to last as long as the one that was rarely used.

Some vinyl handrails use wood or metal posts for structural supports. If this is the case, your vinyl handrailing might last for a while, but the wood or metal posts would need to be replaced, if they suffered from any type of wood damage or metal corrosion.

I haven't seen any structural vinyl handrails, so I can't comment on that. The moment I do, I will examine their construction and get back with you, until then, keep filling your head, with all of the valuable information that you can find, on this website, at no charge.
