Planning
If you have a set of
blueprints or building plans, then you're halfway there, but if you
don't then you will need to create some type of a plan, before
attempting to build your stairs.
If you have a set of building blueprints, just make sure that you double
check all the measurements and make sure that everything is going to
work, otherwise you will need to make the necessary modifications, to
the framing or the stairway, before you build your stairs.
The last thing you want to do is start building the stairs without a
plan and realize that you need to make modifications. Floor or wall
framing modifications could create structural problems, for the
building, if the project wasn't planned properly.
The reason why we plan out anything is to eliminate wasted time and
money. Unless you can look at a building, take a couple measurements and
then build the stairs without any problems, then you're going to need a
plan.
I'm not going to go into a lot of details, because most of this
information has already been covered or will be covered on other pages,
but I would like to point something out.
Take some time to plan your stairway and it could actually speed up the
process for building and finishing the stairs.
Draw the stairway out on a piece of paper and double check all of your
measurements. Once you have created the perfect plan and actually built
the stairway, in your mind, you won't believe how easy the rest of the
project will be to construct.
