Total Rise

By now you should be getting the hang of it and hopefully understand a little more about measuring different areas, before you can build your stairs.

Feel free to go back or even go forward if you need to, if you're finding it hard to follow these instructions.

Like I mentioned earlier, double check these measurements and make sure that everything is working out perfectly and you understand everything that you're doing.

The total stair rise is the vertical distance between floors. The illustration above should provide you with an excellent example.

Try to keep your stair risers around 7 - 1/2 inches, if possible, with a 10 inch tread. You will learn more about this, in the next pages, so don't do all of your calculations, just yet.
