Floor Plan
In the design section,
of this free how to build stairs section of the website, you should have
a nice floor plan drawn on a piece of paper. The measurements on your
floor plan should match all of the measurements, on the construction
project.
If you have a wall that's 104 inches long on your floor plan, but it's
framed at 98 inches, you've got a problem. If you run into a situation
like this, you will need to either make the wall longer or change your
floor plan design.
This is why it's critical to create a floor plan and
section of the
stairs. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a set of stairs
sticking into a hallway, that shouldn't be.
Think of it like this, if you were in a helicopter, hovering over your
construction project, looking Straight down, you would have the perfect
of what your floor plan should look like.
If you're stair treads, landing and wall measurements aren't working on
your floor plan or your construction project, you're going to have
problems building your stairs.
Make sure that you make the necessary modifications, before continuing.
