Concrete Balusters - Design And Stair Handrailing
A concrete baluster (as shown in picture below) is used for stairways, decks or balcony handrails. Since concrete is an extremely durable product, these balusters could last for an extremely long time.
Concrete balusters also come in different shapes and
sizes. Don't be fooled, especially if you try to pick one of them up by
yourself. Some of these balusters weigh over 100 pounds each.
Home Remodeling Warning: Make sure that you check with a structural
engineer, before placing heavy objects like these on a
deck, porch or
balcony.
Could you imagine adding an additional 2000 to 4000 pounds of weight
onto a cantilevered deck or balcony? It might not even be a bad idea to
contact a structural engineer, if you were going to place concrete
balusters over a 4 inch thick concrete slab.
Just trying use a little common sense, when adding additional weight to
any section of your home.
